Pompey the Great and the Campaign of 49 BC: Analysis of a Military Blunder by Albert Nofi

Applying modern (and heavily quantitative) wargaming techniques. Albert A. Nofi concludes that while Pompey had little choice but to strategically redeploy out of Italy in the face of Caesar's advance, he chose the worst possible redoubt:  Greece.  According to Nofi, either Spain (better) or Africa (best) presented superior options.
